Colfax High School student, Justin Urke, designed and built his own 3D printer. Teacher Jonathan Schwartz, an inventor in his own right, serves as a mentor to young entrepreneurs such as Justin. The high school has become fertile ground for these types of innovations with the launch of their "Design Tech" program. The program consists of four teachers working together to introduce students to product design & manufacturing skills. Design Tech is supported by Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT)and the Sierra College "Sierra STEM" (www.sierraschoolworks.com) project.
